Our mission is to provide opportunities for people to develop new skills, enhance old ones and express their creativity in a relaxed, social and community focused environment.
Aims:

Facilitate sewing as a medium for self-expression. Individuals are able to create a personalised article through the selection of colours and fabrics.

Develop a practical life-long skill that enables people to create, mend and adapt items and garments thus contributing to a more sustainable lifestyle.

Improving self-esteem and confidence learning new skills or enhancing existing ones by the completion of a small project.

Reduce anxiety through developing a mindful, relaxing skill.

Improve motor skills and hand-eye co-ordination through activities such as threading needles, pinning, using a machine and hand-sewing thus supporting brain health lowering the risk of dementia.

Enhance focus and attention by following the methodical, step by step instructions involved in sewing. This in turn can foster patience.

Enrich social connections and wellbeing through sewing socially and meeting new people, fostering new friendships and enhancing existing ones.

Provide a physical and mental activity for people who may be in danger of social isolation helping people stay connected in an increasingly digital world. Sewing communities provide mutual support, inspiration and feedback which supports personal growth.
